Can I store my Paragon backups on another HD?

    ...without having problems?

I want to do a full backup of my notebook but the portable HD doesn't have enough room left. I want to move the existing backups (of the notebook) from the portable HD to my desktop which has more space than I'll ever need. I don't want to delete any of the prior backups, just to be safe.

I've done this already but haven't had to use the transferred versions yet.

Will I have problems if I should need to transfer the Paragon backups from the desktop to my portable HD in order to get it loaded onto the notebook?

    Thanks

    Brian

You can put it on another HDD, not your boot HDD.
Do you have more than one internal HDD?

The machine I want(ed) to backup is a notebook with one HD.

I've already done the deed though. I moved the older Paragon backups from the external HD onto the desktop HD to make enough room on the external HD for the current backup.

I figured my machine was running just too well and as it was just recently completely updated software and OS wise, I did it.

You might as well delete the backup on the desktop, because you won't be able to use it anyway.-You can't recover from C to C.

See if you can eliminate more data from your external HDD if you feel you need to keep multiple backups, or get another external HDD.:wave

Firstly, I have never tried restoring an image that has been copied/moved and I didn't find anything on the internet that says it will or won't work
Let's see if I have correctly summed up what you want to do

    - You created Paragon backup images of your Notebook on an external harddrive
    - That external harddrive has become full so you have moved backup images to your desktop for storage only
    - When you need to restore a Paragon backup image you will copy the image from your desktop back to the external harddrive
    - Then you will connect the external harddrive to your Notebook
    - You will also connect the Paragon Recovery Media USB Flashdrive you created or insert the Paragon Recovery Media disc you created. Whichever type you use.
    - You will start your Notebook and select to boot from the Paragon Recovery Media USB Flashdrive or the Paragon Recovery Media disc
    - Using the recovery Wizard you will browse to the Paragon backup image on the external harddrive and select it to be restored

If the above is correct then I think it should be ok
If you are going to try and recover an image using the Paragon Software rather than the Recovery Media method (as above) then I don't know what will happen, I only ever use the Recovery Media method and have never had a problem

If you don't already, I suggest you create a new folder whenever you create a Paragon backup image and give that folder a logical name, then put the backup image in that folder. I use International Date (sorts by name properly) then drive letter (I have a partition) then explanation EG:
    2013-04-20 Notebook C b4 SoftwareName
This tells me the backup was done on the 2013-04-20 and is of the C drive on my Notebook and was done before (b4) I installed a new software I was unsure of (that's why I made the backup ;) )

When you want to restore that backup it will be easy to find the correct folder on your desktop then copy the folder to your external harddrive.
It will also be easy to find that folder, and the backup image within it, when you are browsing the external harddrive during the recovery process.

    Good luck :)

The stored backup image, if I ever need it (i.e. my portable HD goes bad) would be transferred to another portable hard drive for use in a restoration onto the notebook.

I've used the Paragon Emergency CD before. I booted to it when my last hard drive died. You tell it where to look for backup images....it finds it (or them)....you select the back up you want to use...then it restores it.

My question concerned the transferability of the Paragon back up image(s).

I can't think of a reason the backup image couldn't be moved around.

    madmal.

Yes. You got it correct. Like I mentioned, I would use the new image that's now on the external drive, if I needed it.

Initially I wanted to free up room on the external HD so it had enough space for the new image. I wanted to keep the older images, just in case.

Now I think I'll also copy the latest image to the desktop too....just to be extra extra safe. :)

Yes, I name and store the images so it's clear what and where they are.
