Can I transfer my Windows 7 upagrade to a new PC

    My Dell XPS 200 crashed, and I had upgraded from windows XP to Windows 7. Since the crash, I bought a new laptop that already has windows 7. Now, I want to see if I could upgrade my step-son's Acer netbook from Windows XP to Windows 7.

    I if I called in the activation and told Microsoft my situation, would they allow the new activation? Do I need to call and have it de-activated first or install it then call in?
