can my phone number be traced when using dial up?

Hello.
I asked this question before a long time ago and was told that internet business is conducted via the ip address. But what about hackers, how easy is it for them to get your phone number when you dial up, or if you go on facebook, etc?

Your ISP's connection will protect you from hackers finding your 'phone # directly.

Facebook and any other sites where you are interacting with others is a different matter; if you or your friends give away too many personal details and it won't take a Sherlock Holmes to track any of you down .

I wont claim to be an expert, but thinking about it, I cant imagin it would be possible for an outside source other than the ISP you dial up to could obtain your phone number. I'm assuming that its the same as any other phone call, and secured in the usual ways. Hackers could only obtain your IP in the usual ways that you would through other connection types.

Thanks Tim. I shall go forth and communicate with my enemy [a lawyer,syn.crook]now, assured the phone no. is safe. I like my dial up, I like being able to make a complete meal while waiting for a page to load.
