I get the following error when trying to connect to a wireless network: This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured.
Under device manager there is an other devices column containing 'Network Controller' and 'Unknown device', both with yellow triangles beside. Also, under ipconfig, media is disconnected

The yellow triangle means that there is either no device driver or there is a problem with the installed device driver for the Network Controller.

You will need to download and install the device driver for your wireless network adapter. I would visit the manufacturer website for the computer you have and search for your model to see if they have update-to-date drivers that you can download.

LordOlives is on the right track although it has become easier to point people to a program like SlimDrivers:

This can identify all your hardware and install all the drivers for you. You don't need to know who made the hardware or chase down the right driver.

Let us know how you make out.
