    Hello MG's,

I have an XP SP3 PC that has become slow, so I scanned for viruses with my own scanner (Panda) and find and removed some.
I followed your read and run me first sticky thread which made clear that something is not as it should be because I can not install MBAM or SAS.
Deinstalling them causes the CPU to go to 100% with 10+ REGSVR32 processes which finally (after an hour approximately) gives an error:
Cannot find MSVCP71.DLL, reinstalling might solve your problem.

I did an search and found several instances including one in C:/windows/system32.
I scanned the logbooks and only found an error related to SAS (might be due to the fact that I switched off the PC since I did not want to wait too long).

I am not sure whether I shoud post this in malware or software ...

    Hope you can help,

    THX in advance,

    Paul

Yes, please post the above message in Malware Removal. Seems you cannot Install MBAM or SAS, I *think*.

    Cheers..

    Hello MG's,

As instructed I started a new thread in the malware section. This clened up my system however I still have the problem of (de)installing.
TimW said to go to the software section again because my logs are clean.

This is what I posted in the malware section:

    Hello MG's,

I got redirected to this topic from the software topic because I can not (de)install SAS and MBAM.
I ran through the red and run me first topic and my problem still exists.
Installing MBAM results in the CPU usage to go to 100% and erros, same applies for SAS.

    SAS:
Error message: An error has occurred during installation.
CPU goes to 100% is used by TPsrv, csrss, system, PavFnSvr and REGSVR32 (3x) processes.
After a number of minutes following error message occurs:

    regsvr32.exe cannot find part
The application could not be started because MSVCP71.DLL could not be found. Installing the application again could solve this problem.

CPU load wnt back to normal.

Scan done with portable version which found some threats which were removed.
After restart I got the following error message:

    Windows no disk
    Exception processing message c0000013 parameters 75b0bf7c 75b0bf7c 75b0bf7c

    MBAM
    After tsrat instal went OK.
Running it however gives following error:

    vbAccelerator Sgrid II Control
Runtime error '0' and clicked OK.

    next error:
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
    Runtime error '440': Automation error

CPU wnt to 100% and REGSVR32 error occured again:

    regsvr32.exe cannot find part
The application could not be started because MSVCP71.DLL could not be found. Installing the application again could solve this problem.

After clicking OK, same applies for MSVBVM60.DLL and again for ATL.DLL.

Attempeted to run RootRepeal which gave error message:
Error - invalid PE image found!
    Scan was completed however

The logs of SAS, ComboFix, RootRepeal and MG are attached.

THX for your help in advance,

    Paul

MSVCP71.DLL should be located in C:\WINDOWS\system32 (in 32 bit XP SP3) it is 493kb
It is part of MS C++ Runtime
Funny, I looked in the dll cache and I don't have a copy there but I do have earlier versions (5 and 6)
You can download it from here
    http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcp71

Unzip it and scan it to be sure it is clean. Then move it to the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder

    MG's,

that did not help, I scanned it and moved it to windows/system32.
After restart I have te same errors.

Same applies when I try to register it with Regsvr32 also after restart,

    TPsrv is Panda http://en.kioskea.net/faq/12690-panda-security-fixing-the-tpsrv-exe-bug
do this to eliminate TPsrv eating up CPU percentages.

    PavFnSvr is also Panda http://www.pcpitstop.com/libraries/process/i/PavFnSvr.exe.html

    I'd remove Panda.
I use a program called AppRemover to remove any security program because there are so many things hidden in different place.
    http://www.appremover.com/supported-applications
check all the Panda things it is capable of removing cleanly.

Here's what it looks like when you run it
    http://www.appremover.com/media
I like to know ahead of time what I can expect to see and what I need to click.

Perhaps when you remove Panda, your computer will go back to normal.

Since Panda is my antivirus application Iwas a bit hesitant to remove it.
But I did and it did not solve my problem with MBAM. SAS and other applications can be removed and installed now.
I have Panda reistalled now since normally it does not bother me in normal operation

    Any suggestions?
