can not delete hp reg & sys32 files in winxp

I need to clear all HP printer files from my system 32 and registry in windows but I tried and they can not be deleted.
How can I get rid of them, so I can install my printer sw again?
Using window xp service pck 2.

 

Try booting into safe mode and deleting it.

Also, what does it say when you try to delete the file?

 

Deleting in safe mode does not work. It says this file can not be deleted.

You may have to take ownership of the file before you can delete it.

 

Right click on the file or folder and go to properties.
Click on the security tab.
Click the advanced button.
Click the owner tab.
Are you listed as the owner?

 

In the Properties tab I have General -Version and a Summary tab.
Nothing shows the security or owner. Can I rename all these files would that help?

 

In order to re-install I need to get rid of the later version that is somewhere on my computer. it is the later version that blocks the install.
