Can not get windows to start in order to follow instructions

I have a Toshiba M105-S322 laptop with XP Professional. A downloaded antivirus software picked up several viruses and "cleaned" them. However the system acted funny after a restart. After another scan and restart the system will now not let me bring up windows at all. It goes through the windows load screen and as it logs on it immediately logs off. I have tried to start in safe mode but I get the same problem. I have a recovery disk that came with the laptop but not a separate windows CD. I will happily follow the "Run Me First" sticky instructions if I could just get that far. Any help is really greatly appreciated.

The laptop was not in my hands at the moment it got infected so it will be hard to be more specific until I can at least get windows up and see what happened.

I'm sorry but at this point you are in the wrong forum. Sounds like you could have deleted the userinit.exe file or corrupted registry keys related to loading it.

You will need to work in the Software Forum and the below is your next step which requires a Windows boot CD so you need to borrow one.

Yes there are other ways to do this but that is outside the realm of this forum to discuss and would require you builld a special boot CD of your own to boot into a LinuX or Knoppix environment. Or even this UBCD4Win which still requires a Windows boot CD to make this tool.
