Can not remove Messenger.

I am trying to remove Windows Live Messenger from a Vista Home Premium Laptop, but when I click to send it to the recycle bin, I get an Access Denied message, even though I am the sole user of the computer.

I tried switching from Administrator to standard user in the User Accounts, but the standard user is in grey and does not work.

Please help, as I want to stop this annoying messenger application permanently and not sure how else to do it.:boxing

 

Have you tried using the control panels Uninstall an Application option? That should remove it for you permanently.

 

Go into the "control panel" and select "Programs and Features". On the left of the new window look for "Turn Windows features on or off". This will open a new window, down the bottom of which should be a check box for windows messenger. Uncheck it and OK out.

 

You are giving direction for removing the messenger service, which is different from the windows live messenger application.

 

From Contol Panel's Add/Remove select- Windows Live Essentials.
Click on Change/Remove. You will get an option to repair or uninstall. Select uninstall and proceed.

I did what you suggested and it gave me the options as to which of the Live Essential applications I would like to uninstall.
I only checked the messenger box and clicked OK and now it`s gone.

Thank you I knew there had to be a simple way to accomplish this. This issue has been driving me crazy for months.
