These are the two I know of:

    http://www.hijackthis.de/en

    &

    http://hjt.networktechs.com/

Are these good? Can they be trusted?

    Are there better ones?

Also, please correct me if I am wrong, but as I understand it, scanning with HJT "fixes" nothing until you tell it to but ComboFix, VundoFix, SDFix and SmitfraudFix actually do fix things just by running them, even without advanced knowledge of reading and acting on the logs, is that correct?

    Thanks.

Frankly no scanner will be 100% accurate ....as a guide and with knowledge of what you are looking at, they can be helpful.

As to the second question ....yes they run and fix things without the user needing to have much knowledge of what they are looking at.
