Can only run in safe mode IE and Firefox

I have one machine that says it's connected to the internet. Email comes in fine, but neither Firefox nor IE8 run in normal mode. Only in safe mode.

I tried resetting the winsock, virus scans and malware scans come up negative.

What gives?


edit: Oh yes, happening on two different profiles.

 

Another edit - will work fine if I start windows in safemode with networking.

 

I've only see that with malware. Check your startup items in msconfig or CCleaner--anything look unfamiliar like erjiud.exe or other random letters.exe?

When you say two different profiles do you mean different Windows Users or FF profiles? If Windows users are they both administrators or is one limited? If it was malware I wonder if it would happen on a limited user?

 

Found the problem.

We use SiteAdvisor Enterprise. Well, someone apparently through an update to Flash, installed the commercial version of that program and created a conflict.

Removing right now...thanks though!
