    What scan did you use?
23,000+ seems unbelievable to me, especially RootKit entries.confused
Maybe try some of these MG RootKit programs for a second, or third, opinion.;)

23000 seems wrong. Please repost your info and be a bit more clear. I don't think it's possible to have 23000 rootkits and still have a functioning PC. Maybe you misinterpreted the scan results. But, yes. Removing any malware (virus, rootkit, worm, trojan, etc.) can mess up a PC. That's what malware is supposed to do: screw up your PC and make your life miserable. This especially applies to rootkits. They try to become part of the Windows core (or kernel) to avoid detection, and many times they integrate themselves into critical core files. When the rootkit is removed, it might just take the whole file with it. So.... the answer is yes. Malware removal can cause all kinds of PC trouble if not performed correctly. Visit the malware removal forum, read the stickies, follow the steps, and post for additional help in that forum if you need it. Good Luck!
