Can running winsock cause LAN problems

I do not really understand networks and internet connections very well and was having a problem with my companies PC which is through another companies servers and also through their own well at least I think, anyway being a total idiot I ran winsock, why I just don't know and ever since cannot connect to the internet or any of the local servers, had the telecoms guy take a look he doesn't know whats wrong and I cannot get my IT help desk which is about 10,000 miles away to connect to fix the problem, is there anyone out their able to help me please.

 

If you ran winsock it probably made changes to the registry. If your running XP simply do a system restore to a day earlier than you running the program.
