Can you explain what types of anomalies you are seeing on screen, popups etc?

The Windows WGA popup that tells you you have a non-genuine version of windows XP, these are NOT errors, is just that you may actually have an illegal version, did you buy the system off someone, if so check with them the legality of your XP, or did you copy if from a friend or download it?

BUT do run through these steps, it will not remove the WGA popup but will remove any malware found.

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
