    Hi Bill

TBH, I think that that article is not far off what teens leave the house with each time they go out, can also think that add a -/+100GBP to that figure as it maybe different for girls and boys, plus not many go go out with both games machine and ipod.

But with teens needing to keep up with fashion I can see the clother being mostly expensive designer labels, the phone being an upto date one and likely ipod. Even my neices if I roughly add up what they normally turn up with here have around 300GPB in clothes and gadgets, and they are 7&9 respectively.

I cannot see the wallet thing either Bill, but yah never know and their sample size was kinda small and depends on demographic areas used to sample this 3K group.

I tend to leave the house with 16K of gadgets each day, oh one is "car" hehehhehe, but its got Bluetooth and Windows Mobile built in so a gadget :)

Bill, if the key word is *average* then it's unlikely. They would have to come, from an above *average* income earning family. At least in India - and I'd think the UK as well.

I must be living in the past.
I accept the fashion thing but teens start at 13 and to have such a lot of cash and expensive accessories watch/wallet at thirteen i find unusual.

I know the thing about phones is true as all the kids over here have them from about 9.

Only last night on TV there was another article about cancer and mobile phones, how dangerous it is for young kids.

Am i in a time warp as i thought this all happened years ago?

i figured it out... seems a little high in dollars, but not too far off really. $100 watch isnt really that bad. $50 wallet is retarded though.

Jeans and, as said, the wallet are a bit overpriced, but the rest is 'prolly pretty right, i.m.o.

When I was a kid, I was lucky if I was waring 15 quid worth of clothes, and that's it, to go out. Not even a watch, eh.

    I don't have a phone, MP3 Player, or a watch. I have $10 shoes and $20 clothes. One could say I'm cheap. :-D

You also have to remember that the cost of living for the majority of things is pretty much double what it is in the US.

So in the US you would pay $5 for a Mickey D combo....in the UK it is the same price but in Pounds Sterling. Convert that in to US dollars and it's near enough double - $10.

So a teenager with a cell phone worth 200 Pounds is actually worth $400. Add an iPod at 250 Pounds, a pair of jeans, Nikes, shirt and jacket, wallet, watch and some cash for spending and it could easily add up to 600 Pounds or $1200.

I'm definitely below the average teenager then! Unless I'm going to a lecture or something then there's £700 in my bag :)
