Can Virtumonde disable internet access?

Recent scans with Spybot S&D have discovered Virtumonde on my PC. Despite asking Spybot to carry out a fix, it always found it again on the next scan. After reading a similar post on this forum I upgraded to Spybot 1.6.2 and using this version seems to have finally got rid of Virtumonde, however the following day I find that I cannot access the internet, either with my normal Firefox or IE7. My broadband router has all LEDs green except the "internet" one which is red. Is this just an unfortunate coincidence or does Virtumonde have the ability to disable my internet access and perhaps it is still lurking somewhere on my PC?

 

Thanks for the reply but the problem is solved. It was nothing more than a logon reset required from my ISP. This was something I had never encountered before and as it came close behind discovering Virtumonde on the PC I assumed it had something to do with the malware. Note that I had checked all hardware prior to contacting the ISP and it all checked out OK.
