I have an external usb 2.0 hard drive enclosure and use a belkin wireless router on a Win xp system. Is it possible to use the external hard drive as a network drive through the router by first running it through a fast ethernet adapter (to convert the usb plug to an RJ45 plug)?

If this won't work, is there any way to use the hd as a network drive without buying a separate network drive or network drive enclosure?

    thanks for any help!

I can't say for sure but I suspect the the RJ45 to USB will not work because there is nothing there to tell the network what the drive is.

However, If your object is simply to store data on, you could connect it to a computer and enable shareing on the drive.
