Cannot Add Printer

I have scoured the internet with no resolution to my problem. I believe there is a deeper problem associated with this because when I try to enable File Sharing an error message pops up.
When I try to a Add Printer and chose the Wireless option it freezes and I have to end the process. I have tried to Add a Local Printer(manually) with no luck.
I am using Vista 32 bit Home Premium SP2

Verify that you can communicate with other computers on your local network. What kind of switch you are using for connecting these devices? Check yours switch, cables/wire involved. Also have a look on your printer's user guide.

 

Lets back the car/boat up. What is the manufactuer & model of the printer that you are trying to connect to on your LAN?

 

I am trying to connect through a wireless connection at my office. We have no resident 'tech guy'.
The printer is a Xerox Workcenter 5225

 

Well I have managed to install the printer by plain old luck! However I still don't understand why the errors I mentioned in my first post keep happening.
