I installed notepad++. In an Administrator account, I had no trouble associating .txt files with Notepad++. But I could NOT do this in a standard user account. Here is what I tried to do:

On the desktop of the standard user account, there is a file hello.txt
Right click on this file and choose Open with --> Choose another program
The Open With dialog opens showing Notepad and WordPad & the box "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is checked
I click on browse and go to the folder containing the Notepad++ executable
I double click on the executable notepad++.exe
However the executable does NOT show up in the list of "other programs".

Why does this work in the administrator account but I can NOT get it to work in a standard user account?

    How do I fix this?

Never mind!!! I figured it out. I needed to install notepad++ to a folder that was accessible by the standard user account.
