    2gig Crucial Ballistix 1066
    PC Power & Cooling 750w
    HIS Radeon 4670
2 WD 500gig HDD's SATA (one is a clone of the other)
Win XP Pro SP2 32 bit

Just switched from a MSI K9A2 Platinum board and Phenom 9850 BE
Kept everything else listed above. Powered up got 1 quick beep and screen showing the hardware detection. I went into BIOS to set the time and date, checked that everything was set to default, disabled Express Gate, and set the harddisk boot priority. Saved changes and exited. Windows splash screen came up for split second and went to BSOD. Stop error 0x7b. Telling me to check any newly installed HDD's or check for a virus. I ran chkdsk /R from my Windows cd and it said it fixed one or more problems.Tried to reboot to Windows and got same BSOD. Dropped the MSI board with the 9850 back in and Windows boots right up. Thinking that maybe it was a driver conflict, I uninstalled the harddisk controller drivers since the chipsets are different on the 2 boards. Went back to the M4A79 and 940 cpu, still same BSOD. Done some research and came across Microsoft KB 316401 which states that this could be caused by one board having an imbedded IDE controller different than the other board. Recommendation: reinstall Windows, (in place upgrade). Before I do this, I'm wondering if a BIOS upgrade would work instead ?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
