    Hi

IF a software firewall is on this PC disable to test connection.

I would assume that if the PC picks up the wireless network that on connection the WEP/WPK etc key is entered to allow connection?

I'm definitely no expert, but I had a problem like that once, and all I had to do was unplug the power cord from the router for about 10 seconds and then plug it back in. The reason for it was that static had built up in the connection (or at least that's how the tech support guy explained it). I hope you get it figured out!

Ok well lets run through this. You have a cable modem, and it is running through your to your router. You then are running an ethernet chord to your pc via the router. You said your friend used this same pc to connect before through a ethernet connection. Well, your said you are running a Network Wizard. This doesnt seem needed. Right click My computer and then click Properties and then click the Hardware Tab and then Device Manager, and verify that your network card is operating smoothly (no Yellow Exclamation mark). Side note: how is your laptop connected? Wireless or hardwired?

You could test your ethernet chord by plugging it into your laptop and seeing if your laptop could connect to your internet.

Other than that once that ethernet is plugged into your PC you should be alright to connect. Maybe your DHCP is turned off on your router? If i could see your router settings i would be able to help a little better.
What other info can you give?
