    Hi,
I am having a problem connecting to the internet. My ip addresses were wiped out and windows assisgned its own. When I try to repair my broadband lan I get an error that says can't repair or can't clear arp cache.
I've deleted the winsock and winsock2 files and tried again and still can't get it to assign the correct ip addresses. My os is xp and it's already set up to automactically assign. I've tried several times to do an ipconfig /release and /renew and it isn't working. Time Warner cable dosen't know what they're doing and can't help fix it either!! Please help!!! :cry

Unless you changed something that you think caused the problem the problems seems to be the fault of your ISP. The DHCP server isn't in your house so you really can't do much about that.

Not true, if poster is using any sort of router, that will do dhcp instead of the isp. Also the poster stated he deleted the winsock files. If thats true thats part of your problem. I would suggest starting with a sfc /scannow at the run menu to check and replace any damaged system files by that operaton. Lets try that and post back with results.
