Cannot download / reach security sites

PC - Windows Vista - running fine until this morning.

First problem I noticed was that my User Account Control had been switched off. I switched in on and received a messase to reboot for change in settings to take effect. I did. No change

I therefore search for an answer on the web and was givcen to a link to Microsoft security pages. None will load. All other websites fine ... except for those dealing with PC security

I tried to download some books from audible. Will not let me do so and will not even lauch download tool

Tried to run a scan on AVG anti-virus. First went to update it. Would not connect to internet

Same with Super-Antispyware and Malwarebytes. Will not let me update

Tried to download RogueKiller - will only download 99% of program and then stop. The same thing happened why I was downloading some music this morning - 99% downloaded then stopped

Please help!!!
