I'm having a problem with an HP laptop...both wireless & and ethernet cord, it says I have an internet connection, but IE6, Firefox, and AIM can't get out to the internet at all...it seems to be a recent thing, because its a hot topic in a lot of forums...

I've tried all kinds of crap with my regedit, through dos command (I can ping IP3#'s, but not domain names)

any info would help out tremendously

    What OS are you using?

Assuming you have Windows 2000/ XP:

    go to start..run ..type
    CMD

    at the prompt type
    IPCONFIG /ALL

do you have any DNS servers listed ? It doesn't sound like you're getting domain resolution at all.

Hey Kodo...thanks...I do have DNS servers listed, 3 of them...im running XP Pro on a 5 month old HP laptop...firefox, IE6, AIM, MSN Mess., ANYTHING that needs to connect to the internet can't, even though I'm holding a connection...I can ping using IP #'s, but not domains...I can even view SOME webpages using the IP#'s, but no domains...

    Hello,

I'm having the same problem. I'm setting up a wireless network in my home using Linksys. The main computer with the router is hooked up (where I'm typing this now), but the laptop with the WPC54G is "connected to the internet", but IE 6.0 "cannot find server". I've done many things, including inputting DNS addresses, pinging the DNS server (4/4), but am unable to ping anything else. I'm very frustrated! Please help!

Don't shoot me if I'm wrong....

    Main computer (MAIN)
    2nd computer (2nd)

main has 2 network cards [one connected to internet (A), one connected to 2nd (B)]
(MAIN) Network Bridge should be manually set up as 192.168.0.1, subnet is automatic (255.255.255.0)
(2nd) Network Bridge should be manually configured as 192.168.0.101, same subnet, Default Gateway 192.168.0.1, DNS Servers should be set at the same as MAIN(A) [194.168.4.100 & 194.168.8.100 is mine]

Took me hours of messing about and I'm not new to this...!
