Cannot find server

Daughter's having problems connecting to internet

Gets msg "cannot find server"

Any thoughts.

Make sure her firewall isnt blocking her connection to the internet.

Little bit of light background info in the DNS Cache Which OS is she using?

also what type of connection is it dialup or broadband?

as controlmind said check to see if firewall isnt blocking IE from outgoing... also worth turning it off for a short while to test.

ISP could be the one having trouble, give them a call to check if its not them, they can also check her line as well while shes on the phone with them.

I have found that sometimes when I have had DNS errors and Page not Found... first thing I try is delete all temp internet files and cookies, then run this command from the DOS prompt

ipconfig /flushdns

Trying to get more information, I do know that her isp is dial up to a local server, who, I have sent two emails and they haven't answered. I worked with the owner at a bank for a number of years and she will hear about it soon.

Most people around here it changing to verizon. I don't believe she has a firewall installed. I believe she has win2000Pro.

Will let you know if I come up with anything.
