Cannot get any software to run

This morning when I turned on my computer, I couldn't access any word, excel, ccleaner software. I cannot install anything on it either. I can access some windows features like control panel. When I looked at the last things installed I see MSXML 4.0 (two of them) from yesterday. Must have been windows updates?

I've tried installing ccleaner and all the anti-malware tools on a jump drive, but they won't install or run on my sick computer.

Any ideas?

Are you sure that nothing at all will run? Did you really try running MGtools as requested in our instructions?

Have you tried booting in safe mode and running scans?

Can you click Start, Run and enter regedit in the run box and click OK and does the Windows Registry Editor open?

Have you tried running System Restore to restore to a point in time before this problem began.

If you truly cannot run anything at all in either safe boot mode or normal boot mode, then you will be reinstalling since we cannot do anything for you if NOTHING runs. So it is very important that you be clear about whether anything can run. Also you need to explain if you are getting any error messages.
