Cannot Install iPod Software

I downloaded the latest ipod software from apple.com, but I am unable to install it on my computer.

My Computer info is as follow:
Gateway 500S Desktop
Windows XP
Home Edition Version 2002
Service Pack 2
Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz
2.00 GHz, 768 MB of RAM

I have the latest iTunes installed, I did have before ipod software as well ,but I deleted it since I had some problems before (When I deleted ipod before I did delete a lot of keys from the Registry)

Now when I try to install the ipod software, the setup file starts to run, but then I get a warning pop-up with the header "Internal Failure" and its saying Error Number: 0x80040707 when I click ok I get another warning pop-up with the header "iPod for Windows 2006-03-23" and its saying Access is denied and when I click ok the setup exits.

When I try to install it in Safe Mode the message is: 1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime.

Now just to note that I am able to install any other software (whatever I tried to install went through without any problems) so it seems the problem is only ipod.

I have already done all the suggestions mentioned on Windows and Apple's websites for such an error, including re-installing Windows. (I also installed all the latest windows updates)

you reinstalled windows?!?
hmm - i guess that means you've redownloaded it, how about an earlier version?(dont have an ipod, not sure if they are available)

 

I tried to install the older iPod software, version iPod 2005-11-17 for Windows. The setup started to run and a message poped-up saying:

Another version of this product is already installed. Installtion of this version cannot continue. To cofigure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel. {3D047C15-C859-45F7-81CE-F2681778069B}

I then searched the registry for: 3D047C15-C859-45F7-81CE-F2681778069B and found the following:

Is this the cause of my problem? Should I delete them ?

I know pushing up the post will not do much good, but I really need to get this going, does anyone have any advice in regards to my last post?
