    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

What you could try is a clean install of Java as you may have old reminents still on the PC, download and run this tool called JavaRA to remove old Java versions (if running Vista or Windows 7 then right click it and run as Admin)

Then run CCleaner and its Cleaner and Registry tool (run the registry one until nothing shows for removal, do save the registry when it prompts you)

Then us the Windows Installer Cleanup tool HERE and just check you have NO Sun Java or Java Runtime files listed, if they are listed remove them.

Then try re-installing Java from HERE

Did you do all of Halo's instructions?

If yes, and using IE for your browser, try going to tools>internet options>advanced, and click "restore advanced settings".

Also, make sure security is set to medium level first.

Then restart IE, try again to install Java from the given link.

    Hi

By any chance this is not a companys laptop is it? its just a home use one?

See if Revo Uninstaller if it finds Java can remove it, you are in the Admin account of the PC when doing these steps, if not do the earlier steps again.

Also look for and delete the Java folder, should be here on your Vista

    If 32bit Vista here C:\Program Files\Java
If 64bit Vista its here C:\Program Files (x86)\Java and here C:\Program Files\Java (as 64bit Windows have two program files folders)
