Cannot install shockwave player or flashplayer

When I click on install a box pops up that sez: "click to run an active x on the web page" when I click on that box another box comes up that sez:
There was an error and ie will have to close sorry for the inconvience etc and whether I click on the debug on the x it closes out.

Hopefully someone can give me some help on why I am having trouble. Is it in my system I kind of think so but not sure.

Any solution will be appreciated.

It's probably related to a security setting in Internet Explorer that is preventing Active X stuff from running correctly. The are several 3rd party apps that will change ActiveX settings also. These are usually security type programs such as antispyware utils..... Try reverting all your internet explorer settings back to their default values, and take a look at IE's allowed/blocked Active X settings... this is probably where the problem lies. I wish I could provide you with more detailed info, but that's about all I can tell you. Try using a different browser (Firefox, Avant, PhaseOut, Ultra, etc...) and see if that works for you.....
