    Recently automatic updates installed service pack 3 and in the process managed to mess my PC up. When switching it on it would report driver errors etc and I couldn't use it. The only way to get it to work again was to remove service pack 3.

    Now when I go onto it there seems to be no recent service pack on it, as most applications wont run (itunes etc). I am trying to install service pack 2, but to do this I need the latest IE8. I try to install IE8 and I get ANOTHER problem, it wont install, telling me the entirely uninformative;
    The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not belocated in the dynamic link.

    I found a thread on this website discussing this problem http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=119900.

    A user reccomends downloading Dial-A-Fix, providing this link;
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4899.html

    I go to this link and there is no download option! There are the usual fake ad-links that disguise themselves as part of the program, but I cant find any official download (most other websites display would display the legitimate link by underlining it or putting a "download now" button next to it.)

    So my questions are;
    1- Where are the download links on this website?

    2- How can I get service pack 2? What I am using at the moment is off the XP disc, so I can't put the disc in for it as it would have already installed it.

    To gain the downloads on Majorgeeks you need to click on the page for the application of choice and this one below os DialAFix is one of the choices listed

    sorry maybe I should have elaborated. When I asked about how to get service pack 2 I wasn't simply asking for a link. I was asking for a way around the problem. As to get service pack 2 I need to install IE8....but I can't install IE8. So how can I cut out the IE8 and just get it via Firefox.

    I just in case someone suggest it; I am not turning Automatic Updates on as it doesn't alert me as to when it will update, which will I mean cannot stop it installing Service Pack 3 which has twice stopped my PC from working.

    I just need Service Pack 2, and a method of how to download it.

    Hi

    Yes just use Firefox, Opera, even IE6 and 7 "should" be able to download from the direct link, dont have IE7 at home at present on a PC to test to download from the second link I posted earlier (2. HERE) as its the full SP2 version, download and run as its an .exe file.
