    Hi,

I have been working through the Malware removal guide (more than 1000 viruses!).

After completing the other steps, I ran Bitdefender (Safe mode with networking). It deleted heaps, however it stalled for 2+ hours, so I re-set my computer. Thus I have no log (Win32.Virtob.6.Gen was the major offender).

Now I can no longer log on to my computer - either in Safe mode or otherwise. The logon window appears asking for my password (which was just hit enter). After a pause, the logon window appears again.
Thus no logs for any of the scans which I ran....

I am concerned that Bitdefender deleted my password file.

This is an old Tecra 8000 running Win2000 SP4 on 200Meg RAM.
(I do not recommend Spybot for anyone with an old computer - it takes 15 minutes to open!)

    Is my computer dead?
    :cry

    Thanks,
    Sean.

    Thanks! I'll give it a go when I'm back - in 2 week's time.
    Sean.
