    Hi All

I have downloaded a windows media file to a folder in my documents. However, when i right-clicked to scan with AVG the option to do this was not there. Neither was the option to delete the file.

It will not let me drag it to the recycle bin or anywhere else. I tried to delete it or move it in safe mode, but no luck.

    Does anyone have any advice.

Thanks in advance for any info.

If you wish to delete try one of the below applications to achieve this,

    1. Pocket Killbox
    2. MoveOnBoot this one, once you dragNdrop the file or browse for its location, deletes the file on reboot, so any applications that have locked the file are not running so cannot lock it before deletion.. my fav!
    3. Unlocker

    Hi

    Thanks for the suggestions.

However, none of these programs have worked. Moveonb says that the file is invalid, killbox will not let me select the file when i browse to it, and unlocker does not appear when i right click on the file (although it does for all other files).

    Any other ideas ?

    cheers

Did you try in safe mode also those applciations? also disconnect for internet.

I guess you may need to follow our 1st steps guide to removing malware, even tho I dont think this is malware but a stubborn program.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
    • Bitdefender
    • Panda Scan
    • HijackThis
