cannot play dvds

    i installed a new mother board and hard drive on my computer and installed windowa xp. now when i try to play dvds it says i do not have a dvd driver installed. what do i need to do to fix it with out buying a driver program

    Hi

    What Windows version are you using and what media player are you playing DVDs back with eg,. Windows Media Player, Windows Media Centre, WinDVD etc?

    Double check the DVD drives connections just to make sure its not the player.

    Then its very likely as XP doesnt come with a Codec to play DVD by default you need a Codec pack and this one is good, http://majorgeeks.com/Vista_Codec_Package_d5326.html (dont worry that its name is Vista, it works in XP too)
