Cannot read email in Outlook 2003

    I had to reformat my laptop - everything works except Outlook 2003 -- cannot read my emails. Worked fine before reformat. Tried reinstalling MS Office, reinstalling Outlook only. Have McAfee AV - tried reloading AV without email protection. Tried every combo I could think of under security, firewalls, etc. No luck. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Only a shot in the dark and something I'm sure that you've done, but will ask anyway! Did you enter your email server after the reformat? Have a great holiday! :)

    Thanks; however, that was the first thing I did. I can get the emails no problem, I just cannot read them or use the reading pane. Everything comes up blank.

    Hi

    What Windows version and Service Pack? *always ask as their maybe for some issues a OS fix rather than the app*

    What Service Pack is your Office 2003? SP3 is latest.

    Is your server by any chance on a corporate network and using an Exchange Server, it is this just your ISPs email server, or what email company is it, Gmail, Yahooo etc

    Do you get the headers (title) for the emails?


    Try running Outlook in its Safe Mode, type this outlook /safe in a Run box (start > run) or in the Start Search box if Vista.

    If that works ok then its likely an add-in thats causing this so to find out which one, open Outlook and follow this to disable any non-microsoft add-ins http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP052427821033.aspx?pid=CH063566601033 if by disabling all of the non-microsoft ones Outlook displays the email body ok, then enable one at a time adn close and re-open Outlook to test until you find the one that causes this.

    I am using Cox Communications for e-mail. I am able to see the headers, but I cannot open the e-mails. Reading pane does not work, either. I have Version SP3. I have tried removing and replacing add-ins, COM addins, etc., nothing. I have deleted my e-mail account and reinstalled it. Nothing seems to work!
