My computer was running on Windows XP Pro. All the updates installed and working correctly.
During an Internet search the computer froze and unable to do anything else I shut it down. When I restarted, the page indicating the various booting possibility ( safe mode, normal etc) appeared. I tried the standard mode first. It started then came back to the same page. The same happened when I started all the other modes including the safe mode. I tried then to boot from the CDROM. Same results. I tried to enter the bios also, giving priority to directly boot from the CDROM without success. No matter what I tried the computer always comes back to the same page.

I am out of ideas ( beside trowing the computer away).

Thank you in advance to anybody that will try to help.

    Hmmmmm! Curious!

If the computer was here, I'd remove all power from it,
then I'd take out the CMOS battery and make sure
(using a digital volt meter) that the 'out-of-circuit' voltage on the
    battery is at least 3.0vdc.
If it's anything less, the battery should be replaced with a new one.

OK, after about 20 to 30 minutes, put the CMOS battery back in,
restore the line power and try to boot up your system.

It's something to try and it won't cost you anything.
If you don't have a Digital Volt Meter and the PC is over four
years old, I'd just replace the battery anyway.
They are usually a CR2032 and cost about $3 or less at the local Radio Shack or drug store.

Another thing I might try, is slaving that HD to my main PC and let it run Chkdsk /f on that drive.
I've seen that fix a multitude of drive problems.

    Good Luck,

sorry I am unsure what screen you are talking about, Does it get to the black screen where you choose how to start the system?

Does it reboot its self or do you have to reboot cause it freezes up again?

It does not boot, as I described above.

And this appens also using a CDROM startup disk.

Thank you. I tried to take out the battery and then back in again. Unfortunately I am back to square one.

I do not know what you mean with slaving the Hard Drive to Main Pc. Can you explain? Please understand is my main PC that is giving me problems, I working now with one of my secondary laptops.
