Hi. You guys give some really good advice and i think you deserve a lot of credit for that. I have searched for other posts about this problem but the suggested methods did not seem to work for me.

Ok, i am not a computer expert so please keep things very simple.

I am running windows xp. It is a very old computer however and before you suggest i update my machine that is not possible at the moment due to financial reasons. Ok, so my computer was very slow and i have never had an anti virus program on it so i decided to download Trend micro antivirus free 30day trial. However, and i know this is really stupid i didnt check the system requirements which says it needs something like 250mb - 300mb Ram to work. I only have 192mb RAM. So it is now stuck on my machine which is even slower than before (barely useable!). There is something constantly loading in the background, although it doesnt show up on the task manager (ctrl alt del). When i find the micro trend program through start, programs then i click on uninstall trend micro but nothing happens. I wait and wait for hours but nothing loads. So i try to delete it through my computer - c drive program files Trend micro, then it says it cannot delete tmdshell.dll The file may be in use. I should have said before that it does not show up on add/ remove programs in control panel.

Please please help this is driving me insane! I just want to get rid of it.

Did you try a system restore to a date before you installed it?

TimW - Thankyou so much. I dont know why i didnt think of that. I just did a restore and its gone. although the folder is still there in c:program files but i deleted that and emptied the recycle bin so hopefully it is gone for good. But thanks!

So what are my options now with antivirus software? I feel i need one as i download a lot of music etc although i dont want this problemn again.
