    Hello,

Every time i start my computer Microsoft Security Essentials detects malware: Hacktool:Win32/Keygen. I then request that it removes it, which it says it does. However, the next time i start my computer it notifies me that Hacktool:Win32/Keygen is still there.

I searched on line to see how to remove it. I found a thread on MajorGeeks.com and followed the instructions for cleaning my computer (Read Me & Run), using SuperAntiSpyware, MalwareBytes (which i had already tried to deal with Hacktool:Win32/Keygen, to no avail..), and ComboFix. I ran all of these. Hacktool:Win32/Keygen still shown by Microsoft Security Essentials upon start up.

What do i need to do to get rid of it?

I have attached the log files for: SuperAntiSpyware; MalwareBytes; ComboFix.

please can you help me, as i am concerned that i am at risk, with Hacktool:Win32/Keygen.

    many thanks

    Dan

PS: i believe i downloaded Hacktool:Win32/Keygen when i was informed that to view some on line video content, i needed to download a windows media player update. this was a .exe file...... i feel really stupid for having done this, but the situation is what is is now, and i just have to clean it up...

    We still need theses logs:
    RootRepeal -- if it runs
    C:\MGLogs.zip -- from running the C:\MGTools.exe

    Hello,
Thanks for the response. I did not run RootRepeal, as it says in the Read&Run me instructions not to do this if using 64 bit. i have just run MGTools, and have attached the MGlog.

    hope this helps.

Also, i hope that i am posting correctly, as i am new at this, because i have not had need to do this before.....

    cheers

    Hello Again,
just realised that i do not think i ran MGTools correctly, therefore have run it again, and attached MGlog file.

Let me know if there is anything further that I need to do.

    Cheers

    Dan

I am not seeing this in your logs. Please attach a log from MSE or tell me the exact path to the file that it is reporting as infected.
