Cannot run CheckDisk (chkdsk) in Windows 7

I cant run checkdisk ... when i run it, it tells me to continue after restarting windows (coz the hdd is in use ofcourse) .. so i restart and i have this problem ... it calls the checkdisk procedure.. it starts from 10 and goes to 9 and 8 and then it automatically cancels itself and says disk checking has been canceled . i dont even press anything and it gets canceled .. what should i do ?

 

Can you run it in safe mode using CMD as administrator !

 

i went into safe mode with command prompt ... typed in chkdsk .. it ran and it reported some errors with the file system .. so i ran it with the fix parameter (chkdsk /F) and it said it has to be restarted to continue .. i restarted and its the same .. it automatically cancels itself after counting down to 8 ...

are there any other softwares i can use ? like copy it on a cd and use it in bootable mode to check the disk and fix it ?(without running windows)

 

Puran Defrag can run chkdsk as part of it's boot time defrag options, it worked for me last time I failed to run chkdsk normally.

i figured it out but unfortunately it restarted .. started counting the diskcheck down stopped at 8 ... canceled the disk check .. went straight to fragmenting my files ... still got problems .. what should i do ?
could it be that some procedure is pressing a key or some thing ?

 

o well ..i found out how to do it
i went in to the recovery console of windows 7 .. opened the command prompt and checked the file system .. no errors luckily
