Cannot send mail from Internet Shortcuts

I have posted this problem at Mozilla Forums and cannot get a solution, so thought I'd try this forum.
I use Mozilla 1.7.3 as my default mail program. I use Firefox as my default browser. I use Windows 98SE OS.
When I click a hiighlighted url or address on the net, I get this message. "Cannot send mail. No mail program is set up to send mail using Internet Shortcuts".
I have checked and made sure that I have Mozilla set as my default mail program. OF course Firefox doesn't have a mail program. I can't find any way to set up Mozilla Mail any differently than what I have. Sure would appreciate it if someone could help me with this problem. Thanks in advance.
