I am trying to set up a network that will enable printer sharing on 3 computers. The first computer (Computer #1) is a desktop running XP pro, which has the printer hardwired, that I have set up a home network on. I used the "create a home or small office network" on the first laptop (Computer #2, running XP home) and it found the printer no problem. The second laptop (Computer #3) is running XP pro, and has a login window on startup which has its own domain listed. When I go to My Network Places on this laptop, it doesn't show the option "Create a home or small office network", so I am unable to join the network I created. Sorry if my explanation is a little confusing, any ideas?

What is the name of the the group that computers 1 and 2 are connected to? You say that computer 3 has a login with a domain name, is that name the same as the workgroup name of computers 1 and 2? In order for you to share the printer, all the computers ahve to be in the same workgroup.

Computers 1 and 2 are part of MSHOME, the login for computer three (is that the same as the workgroup?) is named IK.

To find what Workgroup you belong to for XP pro:

    1)start
    2)right click My Computer
    3)properties
    4)click the Computer Name tab

You can also change to a different Workgroup from this tab as well, just make sure it's the same Workgroup that the printer is physically connected to.

Alright. Will changing the workgroup affect the login at all?

No, connecting to a Workgroup does not require authentication, however, access to files/folders that don't fall under the current user's ownership may require authentication. Also, Connecting to a Workgroup does not change your existing login credentials.

Sounds good. I'm not in front of that computer right now but once I am I'll give it a go and let you know the outcome. Thanks dude.
