Cannot Stop Malwarebytes Service - Why?

    Windows 10 Home 64 bit
    Using Malwarebytes Free edition

    Run Services app as Administrator. I see Malwarebytes Service (MBAMService) running. When I try to stop it, I receive the message: "Windows could not stop the Malwarebytes Service on local computer. Error 5 - Access is denied"
    Why am I unable to stop the service even when I am Administrator?

    Security software is not written so it can be stopped. If it could, then it would offer little in the way of protection because any malware getting into your system would turn it off.

    If you don't want it running, remove the program, using the support tool
