Computer is very slow when connecting to internet. Graphics download are very slow. Lots of little red dots. When I use my Poker Client the chat box shows that I am disconnecting and then reconnecting.

My wife's laptop is connected through a router and she is NOT having any problems at this time.

In one of the logs there is a reference to Norton. I cannot find Norton on my computer.

I cannot upload the requested files. The connection times out. I tried a single file and the same thing happens. Connection timed out.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Tom

Copy the requested files to a disc or a flash drive and upload via wife's computer.

Did you put a keylogger on your system?

Please use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    Viewpoint Media Player
All poker programs ----> you can put them back once you are clean and working if you feel the need.

Since you are having problems with your internet connections....use windows explorer to find and delete:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_02\bin\jucheck.exe --> note the spelling!
    C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\knlwrap.exe
    C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\iKernel.exe

Tell me if you have problems with this.

I am not using a keylogger.....do you think my wife might be checking up on me? LOL

I tried to uninstall Full Tilt Poker (client) and got this error: Error loading......the specified module could not be found. I have no problem uninstalling FTP if I could find the module

Poker Tracker....the file contains over 9 gigs of data that I use on a daily basis

Poker Tracker and Poker Ace if removed will require new registration codes to reinstall.

I will uninstall both if you believe that it is absolutely necessary.

I deleted the 3 files as instructed.

It is not necc. to uninstall them ...it was just a precautionary thing as we see alot of adaware coming from those programs ...however....now that you have uninstalled the three items ...are things running better?
    Lets reset the internet protocols:
Please copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Find and delete: C:\Program Files\Norton Security Scan

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. This program does not require an installation. The executable actually runs the program.

NOTE: This program is for Windows XP and Windows 2000 only. ATF Cleaner will remove all files from the items that are checked so if you have some cookies you'd like to save. Please move them to a different directory first.

    * Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    * Under Main choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.

    If you use Firefox browser

    * Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.
o NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

    If you use Opera browser

    * Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.
o NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main ATF Cleaner menu to close the program.

Are you running DSL? Go to start / run / type CMD and at the prompt type ipconfig /all

Tell me what is there ...

The ipconfig looks right ....I frankly do not know what is messing with your connections. Perhaps you should post in the networking section or in software ....do you have a firewall installed?

And if you turn off the firewall? What is different from the other computer?

I turned off the firewall.....no difference.....turned back on now.
I don't know what might be different between the two computers except that the laptop does not show any of the symptoms that the desktop does.

Idle observations: I have tried 2 different speed tests. Speedtest.net and Speedplexer. Both will give me a download speed, 4200 - 4400. but neither will register an upload speed. The upload part of the test does not even start in both instances.

I like to use the windows classic for appearance. Sometimes when I shut down and then restart the appearance changes from classic to windows xp.

As I am typing this post the "Reply to Thread" page still has not fully loaded. This happens most of the time when I change pages. It seems as the pages never complete.

I use firefox and I notice the little circle in the upper right corner will freeze for a second or two but only in the very beginning.

I mentioned before about my poker client freezing. I have kept playing and the freezing, for 3-5 seconds, still continues. I have searched the poker forums and can find no similar complaints.

Drivers are updated for your network card? Checked your settings in your security tab with IE? This is either a software or hardware issue, I'm sure....but just for the halibut...
    Using IE:
    Bitscan link
Bitdefender: agree to the license and then select Scan. DO NOT CHANGE THE OPTIONS TO SHOW ALL FILES SCANNED. That will make your logs huge and we don't need to see clean files. Once Bitdefender completes the scan:

Click-on the Detected Problems tab. Then select Click here to export the scan report

When the window comes up to save the report, change the Save as type: box to Text (Tab Delimited) (*.txt) and then in the File name box enter change to bdscan then click save. This will save a file named bdscan.txt in whatever folder you are currently in when you save the file (take notice of where you are at so you can find it later). This bdcan.txt file will actually contain HTML code that we can easily view later while reviewing your log. All we have to do is rename the file to bdscan.html.

I don't know how to update drivers for network card.

    Security tab set to Medium

I could not get bitscan to load

You mentioned that you thought it may be a hardware or software issue. I called Dell this morning. I described my symptoms and was asked about anti-virus software. I told him I was using AVG and a discussion ensued.

He instructed me to uninstall AVG. I did. There seemed to be an immediate improvement. I then re-installed AVG and the symptoms returned. I uninstalled AVG again. Now I am able to navigate but at a slower rate. But it is an improvement.

Having trouble posting this reply. Maybe it's not better. Confused.

I would like your recommendations as to where I go from here.

    Thanks,

    Tom

I did a reinstall this morning with Dell......still had problems.....they insisted on a second install.....and I did.....still had the problems.....then the tech had me bypass the router.....problems solved

That would explain why I could access via the laptop....

So now I have a new set of problems....figuring out what's wrong with the router....

Thanks so much for you help. I going directly to your sticky post on how to protect my computer....

    Thanks again
