Canon PIXMA MP 460 prints green instead of black!

As you can imagine, this destroys the credibility of my business letters, making them look as if sent by a 12 yr. old girl! (Maybe I should dot my "i" with hearts.)

This printer has been fine for about a year. Last week, it started printing what should be black letters as sort of a greenish-blue (cyan?), so I thought it needed a new ink cartridge. I replaced the black one, yet the problem continues. I did the Cartridge Cleaning twice, then did the Deep Cleaning, then the Nozzle Check Pattern. The Nozzle Check looks OK to me, although maybe a little light in the color sections. (I don't have a color copy to compare mine with.) In desperation, I took my business letter, put it on the Platen Glass and did a "Xerox-type" copy, heavy on the black. It came out pretty well. But what on earth is causing this problem, and more importantly, how can I FIX IT? :cry As always, your help will be greatly appreciated!

 

Have a look at this site and it might be useful to uninstall the driver and reinstall, if you have lost/misplace the driver disc you can DL from the site...

Thank you so much, but my problem has now changed (sort of). I downloaded the driver from the website you suggested, but before I installed it, I realized that my printer showed up TWICE in the Printers and Faxes part of the Control Panel. One of them said something like "low-level mode." (I had used the ink-cartridge reset tool some time ago to get this.) When I removed the "low-level mode," the printer started working perfectly. But now I'm stuck with the downloaded driver, which I have not installed (and don't want to, for various reasons). I cleared my list of Downloads, but I suspect that didn't really get rid of it. Now what do I do?
