Can't Access Google by name

My problem is that I have certain, Google being the dominant, websites that I either cannot access without using the IP address or cant access at all from either IE or Chrome.

Last Wed 03/12 I had downloaded an update for a thermography camera from the manufacturers website. I also received a huge Windows update comprised of several files. That afternoon i had went to do a Google search and couldnt access Google with my Chrome Browser, nor with IE9. I also notice I couldnt access several other sites and suspected a redirect virus. I followed several sites advice before finding this one and attempted to flush all of my browsers caches, flushed the DNS and no improvement. Foolishly I booted to safe mode ran malwarebytes and tried installing Spybot to see if I could trap anything. No luck. Ran CCleaner, still nothing. I then tried using a prior restore point and that also made no difference. This being my primary work machine and being pressed for time I panicked and launched a repair install of WIN7 to try to get up and running.

    Still stuck.

I then found your site and started following your Malware Removal Guide, including a side jump to the "Fixing Google/Redirection Hijacking Problems" article and in this thread and the next I will attach all of the logs I can.

System: Dell XPS 400 w/ 4GB RAM, 32 bit, Intel Pentium D 2.80 Ghz processor, Harddrive WD5000AAKA ATA drive split into 2 partitions - root drive 150 GB, D:\ drive 350 GB

    Software: WIN7 SP1

Note, I do not have Firefox I only had Google Chrome and IE. My primary AV is Vipre Business 6.2.5530

Please direct me to what my next actions should be.

    Thank you

Is Google the only website you can't access? I am not finding any malware in your logs.

No, Another major site we use is www.hvacpartners.com, and before I uninstalled it to do the inplace upgrade for Win7 I couldn't get to the ITunes store on my desktop. I have also tried google.com.uk and google.com.au. I can get to CNN, MSN, even Foxnews. I can access Google Earth! It just wont resolve certain sites and for most I have tried just http:// and https:// to see if it made a difference. I am truly stumped.

One thing when on this site trying to download the test software it balked on the link for MGtools.

Just ot refresh my memory, Google is the only site you can't reach in both IE and Chrome?

No, not just Google. It seems just an assortment of connection problems. Google was the most critical start. I seemingly randomly cant follow certain links, like the ones I needed from your site to do the malware removal steps. Certain business sites I access like www.hvacpartners.com, and then IE and Chrome both hung when attempting to follow your link to reset Chrome.

Maybe I need to just pickup another drive and do a new install of Win7 and port over all of my existing programs. I just hate the idea of having to restart everything.

I don't know what to tell you as I am not finding any malware.

    Let's just do some cleaning:

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
    • Attach the logfile to your next next reply.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

You have some PUP, so rerun ADW and remove all it found. I am not seeing malware, so I guess we need to move you to the software forum for additional assistance.

Start a thread in software, hopefully they can help you.

Since you are not having any malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
