im running xp, Dell, SP2. OK first of all i had a virus (antivirus 2009) luckly i got it off but when removing the virus i think i deleted some of my networking files (or so i thought). I was getting on the net after the virus then i couldn't get on anymore. someone told me it could be my nic card so i installed a new one, 3com ethernetlink 10/100. now im still having the same problem. my nework connection is showing me as being connected but when i try to get on the net or open the net on other programs, nothing. when i hook my ethernet cord to the other card i get the same thing. what can i do

    Does it get an IP
goto start > run> type cmd
    In the console type ipconfig

    Also get Winsock Fix.

How did you get rid of the Virus?

antivirus 2009 turns off interent access so are you sure you cleaned up properly?

Try firefox, you can get a portable version if you don't want to install it & see if you can get websites that way.
So we can see if it is just IE acting up.

    Then what?

That isn't always enough for this beastie.

Have you run the Major Geeks anti Malware process?

Yes I'm glad you got it fixed.

However if you had done the MG malware scans they would have picked up the Noron residues as well - That is why they are so good.

I am new to this site and not sure on how I can post myself..I am having bascially the same problem, connected to wireless network at my home but cannot browse internet it goes into a indefinite loop and does not load. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 running Vista OS. Everything was fine up until a 3 months ago and then I could no longer access internet. Nothing has changed or added. I have called Dell...USELESS. because I bought my laptop at Best Buy I was told to bring it there as it is still under warranty and Dell. So I bring it to Best Buy to the Geek Squad THREE times and they were unable to find the problem. So I call Dell again and after telling them I have been to Best Buy 3 times..again told to bring it back the Geek Squad to fix as they cannot help because of the contract between Dell and Best Buy. I have done searching on my own and did all the PIngs and things but still NO internet. Get the ISATAP adapter with exclamation mark, MS says this can be ignored. This is really way beyond frustrating and wondering if there is a SIMPLE solution to this! PLEASE it has been 3 months. I am using my Sprint air card right now to use interent.
    Thanks in advance
