This is my first post. My WinXP toolbar is frozen and inaccessible. The cursor merely turns to the hourglass when I move it into the toolbar. Minimized open programs/files do not appear in the toolbar. I am running WinXP SP1 on an Athlon XP 3200, with 2 gb memory. I consider myself only moderately knowledgeable on Windows PCs. I have tried to system restore but with no success. I have scanned with Webroot spysweeper and McAfee AV and found nothing. I have Googled the problem and not found a workable solution. HiJackThis log is attached. Help would be very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Your problems may not be due to malware. The best way for us to determine this will be for you to follow the instructions further down in this message.

What exactly due you have installed from WebRoot? Is it just the antispyware program or is it also an antivirus or full security suite?

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
