Cant Brun CDs

Hi ( this is my first and maybe only post) i have a light on - dvd rw drive but i cant burn cds. It works great for dvds ( i can burn and erase) but when i try to burn a cd (music and data) it gives me the error message please use a blank disk ( it is blank because i just buy one) and when i try to erase a cd it gives me used a re writeable disk but is it one! I get this message when i use Windows Media Player, RecordNow! and Click 'N Burn CD & DVD. What is wrong? Thanks Tom

 

Does the drive read data or music CD's???
Is this a recent problem? Was the drive OK until recently, or has this problem always been with the drive?

No it cant read cds, ( sorry for the late replay), but it can read dvds, just fine. Tom

 

OK- I know this sounds almost too easy: but, download and run Dial-A-Fix from the All In One section. Uncheck 'Show Tool Tips'. Check the last 3 boxes in the registration center. Click 'Go'. Let it do its thing then try a CD. I recently had a friend who had a similar problem but his was the other way around. He could read/burn CD's but not DVD's and Dial-A-Fix worked. Give it a shot. It's impossible to do any damage with Dial-A-Fix: it's safe. You could even check every box if you felt like it....

Oh Yeah- if the CD doesn't work after running the Dial-A-Fix, try rebooting and then check a CD....
