Can't Close CD Session or Erase

    Here's my situation:

I am running Adaptec CD Creator 4.0 on Windows ME 4.0.3000
(Don't laugh - I may actually be able to afford to upgrade soon)

My system is a 700 MHz Intel Celeron
    RAM is 256 MB

CD Drive in question is a Matshita CD-RW CW-7586

I have a 10.0 MB High Speed Cable Connection (in case you think I need to download anything).

I have been backing up data in preparation for a possible reinstall, and the last cd burn failed, with buffer underrun and track write failure when the cd was almost finished burning. I'm presuming this is related to the common CD Creator problem of making it look as if there is more room on the CD than there really is.

In any case, the session is still open, and it won't let me close it. Since I can't close the session, I can't erase the CD and start over.

I have tried using the Adaptec software both to close the session, close the CD, and erase, and had no luck. I have also restarted both the software and the computer, and cleared any %TEMP% files, and still had no luck.

Is there something like a registry hack, or anything else that could help me solve this problem?

Have you tried using a different cd? We want to rule out that the burning software still works.
