Hello again. I have another one for you that i hope you can help me with. Trying to help a friend get her pc functional again. Had issues with running certain Read/Run tasks. i have logs for some, but could not Run MGTools (even after uninstalling norton and using the norton removal tool, there is some conflict that will not permit MGTools to run). Also tried to put it back on the net to get updates for some of the steps that did not have a manual download option but unfortunately it tells me that i have "limited or no connectivity". hope you can help with the info that i have. I am truly stuck.

There should not be any conflict.

    • Did you save it where requested? According to your ComboFix log it was not saved to the C:\ folder.
    • Did you download and use the current version given in the READ & RUN ME?
    • Did you check for the error messages listed on the Using MGtools download page.
    • What exactly happens when you try to run it?

Hey Chas, nice to hear from you. Well it's sort of a mute point at the moment, while i was away today, my wife took over and decided to try to reload windows xp....well needless to say everything is wiped clean so far, having problems restoring all drivers and such....as soon as i figure out exactly what has been done i'll be back in touch ( trying to locate the product key code for windows). Appreciate the help though. thanks again and keep up the good work.

Anyway....i cant seem to connect to the internet...any ideas as to what may be wrong?

Sorry! You are now in the wrong forum. It you have reinstalled from scratch, you are not having malware problems. You are having software or hardware problems. Try one of those forums.

If the system was properly reinstalled, then nothing should be left behind. A proper reinstall means:
    • delete partitions
    • recreate partitions
    • format partitions
    • reinstall Windows from uninfected media
    • reinstall all necessary software, drivers, ....etc from uninfected media
    • the above software should include antivirus, antispyware, and firewall software
    • connect to the internet (prior to this point, no connection should be allowed) and install all updates for Windows and other software
