can't connect to IE

I did a system recovery on Sony VGC-rb53 PC. Everything was working fine. But after updating some software and rebooting, I could not connect to IE. I get a message that there is a problem and IE must shut down. Then there is a message "cannot find http//shop.trendmicro.com/tmasy/eolsony.html?"

Spysubtract was bundled on the PC and I think that is owned by trendmicro. I had also deleted the google toolbar program, maybe that's the problem.

Any thoughts? Firefox works fine. Thanks.:confused

 

Just a thought try to download this program satrtup cpl and see if you can locate the trendmicro product and stop it from running. Reboot and see if the same error message comes up.

 

Since you just did a system recovery, can you use system restore to go back before you did all your updating. then monitor which update you install and see if you can find the one that stops ie from working

I was prompted to download additional windows updates. When I rebooted, IE is back.
