Can't connect to internet

I did a clean re-install of WinXP on a 6yr old vaio. Before this I used a Belkin wireless card to connect it to the internet, and it worked well.

I can't now connect. The Belkin is working and the wireless connection in windows tells me the connection is good and the signal excellent. I have set the keyword for my BT Hub, but explorer tells me it can't find the server.

The Win XP is only SP1, as per original disc. I had previously SP3 and was hoping to download this.

Any suggestions as to what I need to do to be able to connect would be very gratefully received.

    Thank you

    Chris.

Hi, and thanks for your help.

I have checked this and the 'work offline' is not ticked. I get the impression that something in the way windows is controlling access to the internet is to blame, but I can't figure out what.

the best bet Chris in your case is to call your isp who will be able to instruct you to manually input your connection as you obversely are not connected to the INTERNET and therefor a setting is incorrect
